Wednesday 13 has revealed that the American
horror punk band is in talks to reunite and record a new studio album.
In
February 2010, while preparing to embark on a solo tour of Australia,
Wednesday 13 spoke with The Drum Media (see article scan below),
saying, "Right now, it's the worst week, and I keep getting asked that
question, 'What are my future plans? The next step after this?' It's
kind of hard to say. We're possibly going to do another Wednesday
record, record it in the summer and have it out around Halloween. Or
the other option is... we're in talks right now to do another
Murderdolls album. So right now I don't know which of the two is going
to happen. Of course, if Murderdolls is possible, then we have to do
that — it's gotta be the number one priority." He adds, "It's just
talks right now. The whole Murderdolls thing, it's the band that me and
Joey [Jordison, Slipknot drummer] put together, and
right now we're having the same conversations that we were having in
the very beginning of the band, 'What direction, what kind of music are
we doing this time?' All the small talk stuff like that, so it's far
away from getting in that room with the full band or something like
that. Right now we're just trying to get a game plan together."
Formed
in 2002, Murderdolls released one album in the form of "Beyond the
Valley of the Murderdolls", which came out via Roadrunner Records. The
band had limited initial success in the United States, though its album
and singles charted well in the United Kingdom and around the same time
the group picked up a strong following in Japan.
Murderdolls'
sound is made up of their shared influences, which include punk rock
and 1970s hard rock acts such as KISS and Alice Cooper. The band also
shares an interest in horror movies, from which they take images and
references.
TrashPit Records will release the debut album from ACEY SLADE & THE DARK PARTY in January 2010 through Cargo distribution.
New York-based musician Acey Slade (MURDERDOLLS, DOPE, TRASHLIGHT VISION) is set to unleash upon the world his new full-length solo/band project - THE DARK PARTY. Cleverly bringing together and stretching boundaries between both rock and electronic genres, Slade
and his new band have produced a collection of songs that are both
sonically and emotionally exciting, enabling him to smash open the
doors to another blistering musical chapter in his already colorful
career.
"There are so few artists who are really willing to put themselves out there and show other sides of their creativity," Acey
explains. "As a guy who is known for doing three chords and a cloud of
thunder type guitar rock, I really took a chance by doing this album.
And what I'm most proud of is the fact that I took this chance. To take
big risks means risking falling on your face. By just taking this risk,
I've already accomplished what I wanted to do."
Produced by English drum-and-bass producer Shaun Morris (DJ Stakka),
this is without a doubt the singer's most reflective and daring piece
of work yet and one that will see him challenge himself from here
forward. "The idea behind being a 'solo artist' is that I can change
direction from album to album and that's what I intend to do! Each
album should be bit different from the next," he says.
In today's download-friendly world, TrashPit Records was keen to hold onto excitement and pride of releasing the new album in physical format and create the full album experience! Acey
quickly agrees, "This is for people who still believe that music is
important enough to search out and take time to appreciate listening
to. You don't get the same 'intimacy' from hearing a song on a MySpace
page as you do from going to a store and buying it. When you go through
the process of buying the physical CD and have all the art work, you
invest in a friendship with both the band and the music."
BOURBON CROW, the southern side project of Wednesday 13 and Rayen Belchere (former WEDNESDAY 13 bassist), has posted two new tracks - "Those Southern Times" and "Long Way To The Bottom" - on the band's MySpace page. Both cuts come off the group's forthcoming CD "Long Way To The Bottom", which is scheduled for release in May via Horror High, LLC. A video for "Those Southern Times", which was recently filmed, involves bonfires, machine guns, dynamite and good friends, and should be completed prior to the start of the first BOURBON CROW tour, which will launch in May.
"Long Way To The Bottom" was recorded at Hooverama studios in Charlotte, North Carolina. (This is the same location Wednesday 13 has used for the past 12 years to record his WEDNESDAY 13 and FRANKENSTEIN DRAG QUEENS FROM PLANET 13 releases.) A total of 13 songs were recorded for the CD, but only 10 of them will be used for the LP. The recording session was videotaped and the resulting footage may be included with the finished product as a bonus.
BOURBON CROW's touring line up will feature Roman Surman on lead guitar and current WEDNESDAY 13 bassist Nate Manor.
Acey Slade (former member of the MURDERDOLLS, DOPE and TRASHLIGHT VISION) has announced a ten-date U.K. tour this May.
